In short

The New Zealand lottery is Lotto NZ, with Lotto, Powerball, Strike, Keno, Bullseye and Instant Kiwi. Gamdom has no lottery category: it offers its own provably fair Keno, plus third-party keno, lotto-style, bingo and scratch card games, all played in US dollars.

  • 13 keno titles at Gamdom
  • 5 lotto-style games
  • Keno is provably fair

How to choose between keno, lotto draws, bingo and scratch cards

Gamdom has no lottery category, so the first job is knowing which corner of the lobby holds the kind of game you have in mind. The lobby does carry a "Lottery" label for game types, but the games themselves are filed by studio and by style.

Lottery-style games at Gamdom: 13 keno titles, 5 lotto-style games, 45+ bingo games, 30+ scratch cards
Lottery-style games in the Gamdom lobby.

Think about three things before you open a game: how much control you want, how quickly you want a result, and whether you are really after a national prize. A keno board lets you decide your numbers and your risk. A scratch card gives you an instant answer with nothing to pick. Bingo and lotto-style games sit between the two. If a national prize is the point, that is Lotto NZ and not a casino lobby.

  • Keno, for control.

You choose a set of numbers and hope they match the ones drawn. Gamdom's own Keno has adjustable risk levels, and 12 more keno titles come from other studios.

  • Lotto-style draws, for the draw feel.

Five titles: Lightning Lotto and First Person Lightning Lotto by Evolution, and Atomico Lotto, Football Lotto and Halloween Lotto by Caleta Gaming.

  • Bingo, for a slower pace.

About 49 titles, around 40 of them from Caleta Gaming, with a handful from Games Global and Play'n GO. They live in their own corner, apart from the Originals.

  • Scratch cards, for instant results.

About 35 titles, 20 of them from Hacksaw Gaming, so there is plenty of choice if you like an instant reveal.

The national games are a different category altogether. Lotto, Powerball, Strike, Keno, Bullseye and Instant Kiwi are run by Lotto NZ, drawn on its own schedule and paid in NZ dollars. Gamdom's balance is in US dollars, which is one more reason to keep the two apart in your head. The Gamdom review covers the rest of the lobby, and the deposit guide explains how money gets into a US dollar balance.

A simple rule. If you want to choose numbers and risk, start with keno. If you want no decisions at all, try a scratch card. If you want a national draw, use Lotto NZ.

There are no child pages for keno or lotto yet, so this table does the job of a hub. It lists one or two example games for each type, from Gamdom's lobby and from Lotto NZ. Click a column heading to sort by it.

Keno at Gamdom: the Original and the studio versions

Keno is the closest thing Gamdom has to a lottery game, and it is one of the Gamdom Originals, which are the games Gamdom builds itself and describes as provably fair. Gamdom's own words for it are "a number selection game with adjustable risk levels", and it explains the idea as choosing a set of numbers and hoping they match the ones randomly drawn by the house. In the game list it carries the "Lottery" game-type label, and the FAQ places number draws like keno in the quick-play corner of the lobby.

  • Provably fair: Keno is an Original, and Gamdom has a provably fair page for its Originals, so a round can be checked rather than taken on trust.

  • Adjustable risk: you can change the risk level of a bet. The names of the levels are not published in the sources checked, so read them in the game.

  • Dynamic limits: the maximum bet depends on how many tiles you pick and the risk level, and the maximum profit from a single bet is capped. The minimum bet is not published.

  • US dollar balance: bets are placed from your Gamdom balance in US$, since Gamdom has no NZ dollar wallet.

Some things are simply not written down anywhere Gamdom publishes. The board size, how many numbers you may pick, the risk level names and the paytable are not in the text of the site, and Gamdom's Keno should not be assumed to work like New Zealand's Keno. The same goes for the return to player: Gamdom does not publish a clear figure for keno, so this page prints none. Open the game, read the paytable on screen, and judge it from there.

Twelve more keno titles come from other studios: Hot Keno, Superb Keno and Keno Universe from Amusnet, Keno Rush from OneTouch, Xmas Keno Cat from Evoplay Entertainment, and seven from Caleta Gaming (Banana Keno, Caipirinha Keno, Jungle Keno, Keno Goal, Keno Halloween, Magical Keno and Rainbow Keno). Together with the Original that makes 13. If you want to try one, open Gamdom and search for keno in the lobby.

Lotto-style draws, bingo and scratch cards at Gamdom

Beyond keno, Gamdom's lobby has three more lottery-style families. The counts below come from a 2026 check of Gamdom's game pages and will drift as studios add and retire titles.

  • 13Keno titles
  • 5Lotto-style games
  • ~49Bingo titles
  • ~35Scratch cards

Lotto-style games

Evolution has Lightning Lotto and First Person Lightning Lotto, and Caleta Gaming has Atomico Lotto, Football Lotto and Halloween Lotto. These are casino games from studios: they have the shape of a lotto draw, but they are not national lottery draws and they do not pay out like Lotto NZ.

Bingo

Bingo is the largest of the three families, with about 49 titles. Around 40 are from Caleta Gaming, for example Bingo Royale, Atlantis Bingo and Bingo Tornado, and the rest come from Games Global (three) and Play'n GO (three). Gamdom's FAQ puts bingo and scratch cards in their own corner of the lobby, separate from the Originals.

Scratch cards

Hacksaw Gaming leads with 20 scratch titles, among them Scratchy, Cash Scratch and Lucky Scratch. Games Global has seven (Avalon Scratch and Sure Win Scratch are two), Caleta Gaming has five, and there are single titles such as Fishin' Frenzy Scratchcard from Blueprint, Monsters Scratch from Spinomenal and Scratch Dice from BGaming.

If a pokie suits you better than a card, the Razor Shark page shows how a single game is checked for facts before it is described.

Lotto NZ: the national lottery games

When people in New Zealand say "the lottery" they mean Lotto NZ. It is run by the New Zealand Lotteries Commission, an autonomous Crown entity, and its activities are authorised and controlled through the Gambling Act 2003.

The money has a clear destination. Lotto NZ's Statement of Intent for 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2029 says 100% of its profits go to the community through the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board, and it counts NZ$5.9 billion of funding over 36 years. The rules for each game are made by the Commission under section 243 of the Gambling Act 2003 after approval by the Minister of Internal Affairs. The standard Lotto and Powerball prices above come from the Lotto Rules 2025, which came into force on 29 September 2025.

Keno, the New Zealand way

Lotto NZ's own Keno is the easiest game to compare with Gamdom's. It uses numbers 1 to 80, you pick 1 to 10, and 20 numbers are drawn. There are four draws a day, with sales closing at 10:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm and 6:00pm. A selection costs from NZ$1 (options run NZ$1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100), and an optional multiplier of 1.5, 2, 3, 5 or 10 doubles the cost. The top prize is NZ$250,000 for NZ$1 on 10 of 10, at odds of 1 in 8,911,711.2, and total prizes per game are capped at NZ$2,500,000. There is no jackpot. Those are the figures in Keno Game Design No. 5, effective 23 October 2025.

Powerball changed from 10 to 14 balls on 13 September 2026

Before the change, Powerball added one extra number from 1 to 10 to a standard Lotto selection. Since 13 September 2026 the extra number is picked from 14 Powerballs. With more balls to choose from, matching the Powerball becomes harder.

  1. Saturday 12 September 2026

The last Powerball draw under the old 10-ball rules.

  2. Sunday 13 September 2026

The new rules start, with 14 Powerballs in the game.

  3. Wednesday 16 September 2026

The first Powerball draw under the new rules.

The same reports give the Division 1 odds as moving from about 1 in 38.4 million to about 1 in 53.7 million. The legal text is the Lotto Amendment Rules 2026, and Lotto NZ's own how-to-play pages are the place to confirm the current rules before you buy a ticket. Strike and standard Lotto are played with the same selection, so only Powerball changed.

Four things people mix up about lotteries and Gamdom

  • Gamdom has a lottery section, like a national lottery site.

Gamdom has no lottery or lotto category. Keno is a Gamdom Original, and bingo, scratch cards and lotto-style games are studio titles in their own corners of the lobby.

  • Keno at Gamdom works exactly like Lotto NZ Keno.

Lotto NZ Keno is 1 to 80, pick 1 to 10, 20 drawn. Gamdom has not published its board size or pick rules in the sources checked, so the rules on screen are the only guide.

  • Lightning Lotto and other lotto-style games are national lottery draws.

They are casino games made by studios such as Evolution and Caleta Gaming. Lotto NZ draws are run by the New Zealand Lotteries Commission, and its profits go to the Lottery Grants Board.

  • 18 is the legal minimum age for every Lotto NZ product.

Section 301 of the Gambling Act 2003 documents an under-18 ban for Instant Kiwi. Lotto NZ's own papers name Instant Kiwi as the age-restricted game, so check the age rule for any other product at the point of sale. Gamdom asks for 18 or the legal age where you live.

At Gamdom, amounts are in US dollars as Gamdom states them, and crypto is shown in coin units. Gamdom's responsible gambling page lists deposit limits, loss and wager limits, session reminders and self-exclusion of 1, 5 or 8 days from Settings, with longer exclusion by asking support. Self-exclusion is binding, so choose it only when you mean it.

Lotto NZ has its own protections for MyLotto accounts. Its Player Care Charter describes mandatory spending limits for every registered MyLotto player, set with the Department of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health. You can set a lower limit yourself, any increase is delayed, and there is an online self-exclusion option as well as the NZ$999 cap on the online account balance.

Lottery-style games feel quick and cheap, and that is exactly why a limit set in advance helps. If gambling stops being fun, call the Gambling Helpline on 0800 654 655 (free, 24/7) or visit gamblinghelpline.co.nz. For local services and rules, see the Canterbury page.

What to do if a keno round, scratch card or lotto result did not work

Most problems are small: a round that did not load, a bet that was refused, or a result that looks odd. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Look at your game history

A round that appears in the history was played, and one that does not appear was not. Never place the same bet again until you have looked.

  2. Reload once

If a keno board or a scratch card did not load, refresh the page one time, then reopen the game from the lobby.

  3. Check why a bet was refused

Keno has a dynamic maximum bet that depends on the tiles you picked and the risk level, so a smaller bet or fewer tiles may go through. Also check that your balance is in US$ and covers the bet.

  4. Verify an Original

If a Keno result looks wrong, the Originals are provably fair, so use Gamdom's provably fair page to check that round.

  5. Contact live chat

Live chat runs 24/7. Give the game, the time, the bet amount and what you saw. A screenshot of the screen and the history line helps.

  6. National games: use the ticket route

For Lotto NZ, keep your ticket or your MyLotto record, compare it with the draw you entered, and take it to the retailer or contact Lotto NZ through MyLotto or the App. Claim steps are on Lotto NZ's own pages.

Do not chase a result. If something did not work, stop before you bet again. Repeating a bet to "fix" a missed round is how small problems get bigger.

What players say about keno and lottery-style games at Gamdom

Players who enjoy keno at Gamdom tend to mention how easy it is to start: you pick a few numbers, choose how bold you want to be, and a result arrives within seconds. They like that the risk setting is theirs to change and that the game belongs to the Originals, which carry a provably fair label.

Scratch card and bingo fans talk about the choice. With about 35 scratch cards and about 49 bingo titles in their own corner, there is usually something new to try, and Hacksaw Gaming's scratch games come up often. Many also appreciate that support is on live chat all day and night if a round does not behave.

People in New Zealand who play both sides say they treat them as two hobbies: a weekly Lotto NZ ticket for the national draw, and a quick keno or scratch card at Gamdom for something faster. Keeping a limit on each is the habit that comes up most.

The short version

Gamdom does not replace Lotto NZ and does not try to. It adds a good set of keno, lotto-style, bingo and scratch card games for quick sessions, and rewards new players with the 15% boosted instant rakeback for the first 7 days. Read more in the about page to see how this guide is checked.

Lottery questions answered

Does Gamdom have a lottery section?

No. Gamdom's lobby has no lottery or lotto category. Keno sits among the Gamdom Originals, and the third-party keno, lotto-style, bingo and scratch card games are spread over the quick-play and game corners of the lobby.

Is Keno at Gamdom the same as Lotto NZ Keno?

They share the idea of picking numbers and matching a draw, but they are different products. Lotto NZ Keno uses numbers 1 to 80, picks of 1 to 10 and 20 drawn numbers. Gamdom has not published its board size or pick rules in the sources checked, so read the rules inside the game.

How many lottery-style games does Gamdom list?

A 2026 check of Gamdom's game pages found 13 keno titles including the Original, 5 lotto-style games, about 49 bingo titles and about 35 scratch cards. The live lobby changes, so treat these as a guide, not a promise.

Can I buy Lotto NZ tickets at Gamdom?

No. Lotto NZ sells its tickets in retail, on MyLotto and in the Lotto NZ App. The games in Gamdom's lobby are made by studios such as Evolution, Hacksaw Gaming and Caleta Gaming and are not national lottery draws.

What changed with Powerball in September 2026?

Powerball moved from 10 to 14 Powerballs. The last draw under the old rules was on Saturday 12 September 2026, the new rules began on Sunday 13 September, and the first draw under them was on Wednesday 16 September.

What age do I need to be?

Gamdom asks for 18 or the legal age where you live. For Lotto NZ, Instant Kiwi is the game with a documented under-18 ban under section 301 of the Gambling Act 2003. For any other Lotto NZ product, check the age rule at the point of sale.

What if a keno round or a bet did not go through?

Check your game history first, then try once more rather than repeating the bet. Keno has a dynamic maximum bet that depends on the tiles you pick and the risk level. If it still looks wrong, tell Gamdom's live chat, which runs 24/7.

Who operates Gamdom, and where can I get help?

Gamdom is operated by Moon Revolution Limitada (Costa Rica) under a licence from the Government of the Autonomous Island of Anjouan, Union of Comoros. In New Zealand the free Gambling Helpline is 0800 654 655, open 24/7.
